Instagram has added a new option to help users keep their accounts safe. You can use the Security Checkup to help you secure your account if it has been hacked. This includes examining login activity, analyzing profile information, verifying the accounts that share login information, and updating account recovery contact information such as a phone number or e-mail address.
Enable two-factor authentication
Two-factor authentication, a security tool that protects your Instagram account and password, is strongly recommended. When someone tries to get into your account from a device we don’t recognize, you’ll receive a message or be prompted to provide a special login code. Use your phone number or an authenticator app like Duo Mobile or Google Authentication to set this up in just a few taps in Security in your Settings.
Enable Login Request
In the event that someone attempts to log into your Instagram account from a device or web browser that instagram don’t recognize, you’ll receive an alert. If a device tries to log in, these alerts will tell you which one and where it is located. If you’re already logged in, you can either accept or reject the request right away. Logging out of a device or location and notifying us that a recent login was not yours is an option if you are unsure who logged in.
